C. Honors and AwardsDominican School recognizes the effort of the students in upholding the Dominican philosophy of education through the application of the Dominican ideals, scholastic performance, participation and leadership in school and community relatives activities and conduct of behavior. Because of this due recognition is given to deserving students. 1. Scholastic Quarterly AwardsCertificate of Merit in Academics is awarded to the top 10 students in each Grade or Year level without a grade below 85% in Conduct or any subject during the First to the Third Quarter. 2. Final HonorsThe academic committee, the adviser, and the subject teachers will deliberate on the candidates for honors. 2.1. For Non-graduating Students
2.1.2. The awards to be given are First Honors, Second Honors, Third Honors, Merit Award in Academics, Deportment and Best in Co-curricular Activities. 2.1.3. Honor pupils from Grade Four to Third Year with two curriculum year residence shall enjoy the following privileges for the next school year: 2.1.3.1. First Honors - 100% discount on tuition fee 2.1.3.2. Second Honors - 50% discount 2.1.4. Students who graduated First and Second Honors in Grade Six from other schools are granted the same privilege as stipulated in provision 2.1.3 provided they pass the school's qualifying examination. 2.2 For Graduating StudentsPursuant to Art. XVI Sec. 86 of the Manual of Regulations for Private Schools Dominican School grants the following awards: 2.2.1. For Grade Six
2.3. Qualifying Criteria for Graduating Honor Students2.3.1. Candidate must have no grade lower than 85 in any subject during his Grade 5 & 6 and third & fourth year levels. Computation of the final grade shall be the average of the last two curriculum years. 2.3.2. He must have taken his last two curriculum years in Dominican School. 2.3.3. He must be an active member of an authorized club or student organization. 2.3.4. He must have completed the curriculum years within the prescribed length in years, i.e. four consecutive years. However, consideration for students who have spent more than four years of schooling maybe given due to unavoidable circumstances such as serious ailment, calamities and peace and order situation as the case maybe. Documentary proof must be presented. 2.3.5. In case of a tie in the academic honor, school residence shall be taken into graduation. 2.3.6. Announcement of honor students/ special awardees shall be made after the DepEd approval. 2.3.7. Formal complaints regarding the result of the awards shall be made within two (2) working days after the announcement. No complaints shall be entertained after the designated time frame. 2.4. Performance in Co-curricular ActivitiesPerformance in the co-curricular activities covers the achievement of the candidates in all activities (school, division, regional, national and international levels), active participation in authorized student organizations or clubs, been learned from school, travels in relation to school work, and other civic activities. 2.4.1. Rank of candidates will be based on the points earned as assessed by the club moderators. 2.4.2. Ranking of candidates shall follow this procedure: 2.4.2.1. Get the composite rank (sum of all the ranks given by the raters) of each candidate. 2.4.2.2. Rank the candidates from the lowest to the highest sum. 2.4.2.3. Multiply the final rank by three (3) points. 2.5. The following criteria and their corresponding rate shall be used in determining the honor students in their level:CRITERIA WEIGHT Scholastic Performance 70 Co-curricular 30 TOTAL 100 2.6. Report Cards2.6.1. Report cards are issued to parents at the end of each grading period. 2.6.2. Parents of academically-challenged students are required to come for a conference with he class adviser to follow up their children's progress. Conference maybe scheduled for parents of students without failing marks upon their request. 2.6.3. Students' grades are considered final. In case an appeal is deemed reasonable, a written request must be forwarded to the principal who may decided to take it up with the teacher concerned. 2.6.4. Forgery and/or tampering of report cards are major offense. |
