Article IHISTORYThe Congregation of the Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic, though the Provincial Prioress, Sr. Mary Antonette V. Lobetos, OP and her council Sr. Rosalina Mirabueno, OP, Sr. Evangeline Calayo, OP, Sr. Hilda Fortades, OP and Sr, Rosalinda Calong, OP, assume its vission through the most potent tool which is an interactive implementation of the institutional plan is the School Directress, Sr. Ma. Fe V. Lobetos, OP. The Dominican School, Cebu is one of the institutions administered by the CMRSD. Its building's architectural design is patterned after that of the Dominican College Sta. Rosa City (Laguna). Within eight months of construction from January 23, 2007, the four storey building was classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 6, some function rooms like Faculty Rooms, Guidance Center, Learning Resources Center, Home Economics Center , Cafeteria, IT Laboratory, Science Laboratory, Health and wellness Center, Chapel, nuns' residence and guest rooms. additional classrooms are in place. September 07,2007 marked the blessing of the school, highlighted by a Eucharistic Celebration solemnized by the Archbishop of Cebu, Ricardo J. Cardinal, D.D. assisted by Fr. Laurentino Garcia, OP and Fr. Arturo Sanchez, SDB. Blessings of the different areas of the school building was done simultaneously by the reverend Fathers. The Prioresses and members of the CRMSD, friends, guest, teachers, parents and students graced the occasion. The operation started during AY 2007-2008 having been recognized by the Department of Education Region 7. Initially it had an enrollment of 114 from Kindergarten to Grade 4. On its second year of operation AY 2008-2009, the substantive increase in enrollment accommodated Grades 5 & 6 pupils totaling 235. To meet the needs of the growing population several improvements were completed. Among these were the construction and the landscaping of the waiting area, the concreting of the campus road to ease the entrance or exit of the school community members and refurbishing of the different function rooms. During AY 2009-2010, First and Second Year High School students were admitted totaling 368. This necessitated the construction of additional facilities; football field, basketball court, workshop, extension of wet laboratory, library and greenhouse. To complement an effective teaching-learning process, procurement of instructional materials, multi-media equipment and professional books was prioritized. AY 2010-2011 offers a complete Integrated Basic Education. The second phase of the construction of the building also commences which will suffice the present demands of an increased student population. DS Cebu aims to promote a tradition of excellence where both the faculty and students strive to the best. It offers enjoyable learning experiences harnessing the students' high level of interests and multiple intelligences, the acquisition of knowledge and skills, a keen understanding of human nature and human relationship and the freedom of choice within the bounds of reason. It envisions to develop integrated, competent and morally upright young men and women witnessing the truth in the service of country and fellowmen, especially the less privileged. The CRMSD hopes that by venturing into the field of education, it will also achieve its mission of evangelization. |
