Article VII THE SCHOOL SEAL The school seal consist of a cross on a shield with a star on top surrounded by the words Laudre, Benedicere and Praedicare. The entire seal is designed in sharply contrasting light and dark colors. This denotes the basic Dominican character of arriving at the truth, discerning what is true from what is untrue, what is right from what is wrong, what is good from what is bad. The cross occupies the center of the seal as Jesus Christ and His Gospel are the center of the Dominicians. The cross on a shield signifies that Jesus is the Dominican's defense against evil. This depicts the CONTEMPLATIVE (contemplare) aspect of the Dominican character while the star suggest the active role of Dominicians in sharing the fruits of CONTEMPLATION (contemplate aliis tradere) to illumine the word with the TRUTH (veritas). Dominican's
modus vivendi of soaking oneself with the Spirit of God (laudare) and
letting this permeate in ones work (benedicere) and witness (praedicare)
