DEPARTMENTAL GOALS
Dominican School Cebu commits itself to provide a curriculum that will lead to the total formation of Filipino learners through the inspiration of St. Dominic de Guzman's charism and ideals of Truth, Compassion and Justice.
Section 1. Pre-School Goals
Dominican School Cebu believes in the value of a pre-school education. It recognizes the importance of developing young learners in a positive and joyful environment that will:
a. provide pupils with learning experiences that will awaken in each child the desire to learn more;
b. provide opportunities for friendly interaction between pupils and peers developing the child's ability to relate socially with ease;
c. develop psychomotor coordination and sensory perception skills;
d. awaken consciousness of God's presence that will stimulate moral values.
Section 2. Grade School Goals
Committed to provide functional basic education that will serve as foundation for further learning DS aims to:
a. develop oral and written communication skills to express ideas clearly and enhance the linguistic capabilities;
b. enhance the ability to make independent decisions through the development of problem-solving skills;
c. practice the true concept of freedom in relating with others guided by the Dominican ideals of Truth, Justice and Compassion;
d. stimulate filial devotion to the Blessed Mother and to St. Dominic, the school's patron saint
e. Foster love of country and appreciation of Filipino culture and heritage;
f. promote ecological concern and the conservation of all forms of life.
Section 3. High School Goals
In preparation for life to become responsibility persons and productive members of the community, Dominican School Cebu guides them to:
a. become academically competent through a Science-oriented curriculum enriched with learning competencies that are anchored in the four core units namely: energy, environment, health/ nutrition and evolution/ diversity;
b. utilize science processes in solving problems in daily life, preservation of cultural heritage and sustaining a balanced environment;
c. integrate the Dominican values of Truth, Justice and Compassion in exploring the possibilities for self-realization;
d. promote the ideals of sharing the fruits of contemplation through participation in socio-civic activities.
